Tom has been an Associate, Partner, and Of Counsel in the Boston legal community since 1985. He has taken scores of cases to verdict, for plaintiffs and defendants, in Massachusetts and other states. Additionally, he has briefed and argued cases at all levels of Massachusetts courts as well as the First Circuit, the Sixth Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States. Effective in 2025 he no longer takes on advocacy cases and is focusing on neutral work – ideally mediations, but arbitrations as well. In his first 20 years of practice he was chiefly (but not exclusively) a defense lawyer and in the last 20 years he has been a (realistic) plaintiff’s lawyer. In that time, he has settled countless cases – big and small, simple and complex, two-sided or multi-partied, at trial or on appeal – as either an advocate and as a neutral.
